Our priority is to bring the benefits of Scouting to more youth while remaining true to our mission.

The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We are excited to announce that our Cub Scouting program is now open to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.

Scouting Is Fun With a Purpose!

Cub Scout Pack 51 is chartered by LifeCity Church and is in the Simon Kenton Council.  Our program consists of boys and now girls that are entering into the Kindergarten through 5th grades.  Together we make up a PACK.  A boy or girl can join Cub Scouts at anytime and at any age in that range.  Each grade works and has fun separately from the others in a DEN.  As a Pack, Dens participate together in Pack, District and Council sponsored events. See our Family Scouting section for more information.

Here are a few words from the Boy Scouts of America web site that best describe the aim and goals of scouting:

"Cub Scouting means "doing."  Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things.  Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting — citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness.  Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack.  The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings.  Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging."

"Since its beginning, the Cub Scout program has been a fun and educational experience concerned with values.  Besides providing a positive place where boys can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service."

Who Are Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts is an organization designed for boys in grades K - 5.

Lion Cub Scout.  For girls and boys in Kindergarten
Bobcat Rank. This is the first rank that EVERY child MUST earn when entering the Cub Scouting Program.
Tiger Cub Scouts. First-grade girls and boys join a Tiger den, where each child works with an adult partner on the requirements to earn the Tiger badge.
Wolf Cub Scouts. Second-grade girls and boys graduate into a Wolf den. They go to weekly den meetings on their own, but their families still help them work on the requirements for the Wolf badge.
Bear Cub Scouts. Girls and boys in the third grade are members of a Bear den. They also work with their families to do the requirements for the Bear badge, but they also have enough knowledge and skill to take on more of the work by themselves.
Webelos / Arrow of Light (AoL) Scouts. Girls and boys in the fourth grade become Webelos Scouts.  5th graders are considered to be 2nd-year Webelos  or Arrow of Light (AoL) Scouts.  These Dens do more advanced activities to get ready to graduate into Scouts BSA (formerly "Boy Scouts").
