Spring Mulch Fundraiser

Boy Scout Troop 1966

Spring Mulch Sale

Since our last update, the Governor has issued a Stay-at-Home Order, currently effective through June 10. Accordingly, we must adjust our planned Mulch Delivery Date from Saturday, April 18th to Saturday, June 13th.

We have been and will continue to actively monitor all federal, state, county, and Boy Scouts of America safety mandates and recommendations. Safety will drive our final delivery decision. If safe to do so, our plan is to deliver as soon as possible after the Governor’s Stay-at-Home Order is lifted; June 13th is the first Saturday after the 10th.

As a reminder, mulch delivery does not necessitate any contact between scouts and homeowners, and we will have adequate adult supervision present on all deliveries to ensure whatever safety guidelines are in effect in June are followed rigorously. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather and safe, healthy conditions.

We will continue to keep you informed via emails such as this one. At a minimum, please expect another email update when the Governor’s Order is lifted, or if it is changed.

Although out of our direct control and unavoidable given the current health crisis, we know this delay is not ideal. For our supporters whose mulch needs are not flexible and who must cancel their order, we will, of course, offer you a full refund. In fact, we have held all checks, and will not deposit them until delivery. We have had only two or three requests to cancel so far; we are very grateful for your flexibility and dedicated support.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again and always for supporting your local Boy Scout Troop!

First Troop to visit the USS Gerald R. Ford

On January 11, 2020 Troop 1966 was honored and privileged to be the first Boy Scout Troop to visit the USS Gerald R. Ford, the newest aircraft carrier in the United States Navy and the first in its class. It is the first aircraft carrier designed in more than 40 years.  This trip was especially significant to both the scouts and the ship because Gerald Ford is the only President of the United States to ever achieve Eagle Scout, Boy Scout’s highest rank.  President Ford’s experience as a Boy Scout was so meaningful to him and his family that the ship’s official seal includes a compass with a fleur-de-lis pointing true north instead of an N to symbolize the Boy Scouts of America and their core values.
