Cub Scout Pack 130 in Elizabethtown, KY is chartered by Memorial United Methodist Church and has been helping boys grow into responsible young adults since 1950.  Cub Scout Pack 130 is a very active pack with meetings once a week, plus several outdoor camp outs, hikes and other activities throughout the year.

Cub Scouts prepares boys who are in the first through fifth grade for Boy Scouts through a series of team meetings, outdoor activities and a fun curriculum that focuses on the core values of God, world, country, community, family and self.

As a parent considering Cub Scouts, you probably have a number of questions, below are some of the most common:

Q.) What is Cub Scouting about?

The Scouting program is an educational experience concerned with values and character development.  As a Scout, the intent is to strive for development of 12 core values: Citizenship, Compassion, Cooperation, Courage, Faith, Health and Fitness, Honesty, Perseverance, Positive Attitude, Respect and Responsibility.

These core values are re-enforced through a curriculum that includes service projects to the local community, ceremonies, games, skits, crafts and outdoor activities

For the younger Cub Scouts, you play an essential role accompanying them on this journey and it often results in closer parent/child relationships.

Q.) Where do you meet?

We meet every Monday night while school is in session (August-May) at Memorial United Methodist Church from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm & offer Summertime Camping Events (June-July) with BSA and Pack registered camps.

Memorial United Methodist Church
631 North Miles Street
Elizabethtown, KY 42701

If you're interested in joining, please feel free to stop by or contact us

Q.) What kind of stuff do Cub Scouts do?

Cub Scouts engage in a variety of activities designed to help re-enforce the 12 core values (see above) of character development.

As part of the curriculum your Scout will do many of the following:

- Character development activities with your family to learn responsibility and manners

- Outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, fishing and swimming.  Scouts who attend summer camps have the opportunity to safely operate bb guns and bows

- Faith based activities that help strengthen your belief systems

- Build crafts such as pinewood derby cars, musical instruments or perform science experiments designed to learn new mechanical skills, scientific and mathematical concepts

- Participate in games, skits and sports that promote team building

- Service Projects that teach giving back to the community and being a responsible citizen

- Visit places within the community such as the police and fire station to understand the importance of public/municipal services

- Youth protection awareness discussions with you, to learn about staying safe at school, home, online or outdoors

Q.) How much does it cost?

Membership fees are $36 a year, and prorated for the first year. There is a Boy's Life magazine that is $12 per year, not required but the boys often get pumped about the cool things in and getting their own mail each month.

If you and your son are interested in joining our Pack, we meet every Monday night while school is in session (August-May) at Memorial United Methodist Church from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  If you have additional questions please click here to contact us.

EXTRA-EXTRA: Pack 130 Makes the Paper!

Pack 130 is reaching out to our parents to be future leaders in our pack as many of our scouts prepare to transition to Boy Scouts in February resulting in many of our adult leaders moving to Boy Scout units continuing the scouting trail. We would like to fill these positions by our Blue & Gold or earlier so that the leaders can be scheduled for University of Scouting in January or later training events to ensuring proper training for their prospective positions next scouting year.

Currently we have need next scouting year for the following positions:

Pack Trainer
Asst. Webelo Den Leader
Asst. Treasurer
Committee Member
Training and den materials are at no cost as the pack has agreed to pay for these; all we ask is your time and commitment in making Pack 130 one of the premier scouting organizations in the area since 1950.

For more information on volunteering for one of these positions please contact the Cubmaster or Committee Chair.
