Bobcat Requirements
The first rank that EVERY boy MUST earn when entering the Cub Scouting Program is the Bobcat rank.
The items below are the basic information that ALL Cub Scouts must learn, which is why EVERY boy who enters into Cub Scouting MUST earn the Bobcat Badge.

To earn the Bobcat rank the new Cub Scout must do the following:

1.      Learn and say the SCOUT OATH, with help if needed.

On my honor I will do my best

To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times;
                    To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

        2.    Learn and say the SCOUT LAW, with help if needed.

A Scout is:

Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,

Friendly, Courteous, Kind,

Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty,

Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

        3.    Show the CUB SCOUT SIGN. Tell what it means.

MEANING:
            Make the sign with your right hand and with your arm held straight up.
The two fingers stand for the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.
They look like a wolf's ears ready to listen to Akela.
Give the Cub Scout Sign when you say the Scout Oath or Scout Law.

         4.    Show the CUB SCOUT HANDSHAKE. Tell what it means.

    MEANING:
                Using your right hand, place your first two fingers along the inside of the other scout's wrist.
This means that you help each other remember and obey the Scout Oath and Law.

         5.    Learn and say the CUB SCOUT MOTTO. Tell what it means.

    “Do Your Best”

    MEANING:

               This means to try as hard as you can in everything you do.

            6.    Show the CUB SCOUT SALUTE. Tell what it means.

       MEANING:
                    The Cub Scout salute means you respect our country’s flag.
Salute with your right hand. If you are wearing your Cub Scout cap, place your two fingers on the brim.
If you do not have a cap, place your two fingers over your eyebrow.

            7.    With your parent or guardian complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.
